Engineering students used the engineering design process to design and built the chickens' sleeping perches and used harvested invasive species bamboo to build it. They enhanced the space for their feathered friends by adding a pond with pollinator plants and building new trellises for the grapes to provide a shade source for the chickens.
"I think the chickens bring a real sense of peace to everyone that visits them. They are friendly and tame. They don't mind being hugged. Visiting them for a few minutes provides an opportunity to slow down during our busy days."
