Cunningham Elementary School has built the PEAS (Partners in Education, Agriculture, and Sustainability) Community Farm to engage students and the neighborhood in gardening. Weekend workdays are buzzing with families and neighbors that have all come together to weed and prep beds for planting, harvesting, and sharing in the joy gained from gardening as a community. Teachers use the garden for classroom lessons, and an after-school garden club gathers weekly for activities.

The ongoing regularly scheduled community farm days are crucial for sustaining the space. Additionally, the outside support of PEAS working directly with teachers to make the classes with the students happen on an ongoing basis keeps teachers engaged in this resource.

Cunningham also makes use of other resources and especially love the Edible Schoolyard, Slow Food, and Project Learning Tree.
